Cybersecurity for Future Mobility

From March 17-19, 2025, the FINESSE research consortium presented at the National IT Security Research Conference in Berlin. Under the theme “Cybersecurity and Democracy,” around 450 participants from science, business, and politics gathered to exchange the latest research findings.

The FINESSE Project

FINESSE, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), develops unified protection systems for vehicles and infrastructure in road and rail transport. Three partners presented their innovative demonstrators at the joint FINESSE booth:

Fraunhofer SIT demonstrated cyberattacks on SOME/IP protocols with an autonomous vehicle model.

INCYDE showcased spoofing attacks on the safety-critical MVB protocol and detection solutions for rail vehicles.

Yekta IT conducted live cyberattacks on CAN, UDS, and Keyless protocols, demonstrating how Intrusion Detection Systems detect attacks in real-time.

Erfindergeist-Slam

Ali Recai Yekta from Yekta IT captivated the audience with his presentation “Hacking in Vehicle Security.” He debunked Hollywood clichés and showed that vehicle attacks are highly complex, requiring systematic analysis. With live demonstrations, he successfully sparked enthusiasm for vehicle security. The conference emphasized that cybersecurity is essential for protecting our democracy and critical infrastructure. The FINESSE consortium continues to develop innovative solutions for connected mobility security.
